Mutual is a village in Champaign County, Ohio, United States. The population was 132 at the 2000 census.
Mutual is located at (40.079243, -83.638167)[3]. It lies at the intersection of State Routes 29 and 161. The nearest stream is Buck Creek, a tributary of the Mad River, which flows about 1 mile (1½ km) west of the community. It is located approximately midway between the city of Urbana (the county seat of Champaign County) and the village of Mechanicsburg.[4]
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.1 square miles (0.26 km2), all of it land.
As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 132 people, 51 households, and 39 families residing in the village. The population density was 969.6 people per square mile (364.0/km²). There were 51 housing units at an average density of 374.6 per square mile (140.7/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 100.00% White. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.52% of the population.
There were 51 households out of which 37.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.6% were married couples living together, 5.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.6% were non-families. 19.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.59 and the average family size was 2.90.
In the village the population was spread out with 23.5% under the age of 18, 6.8% from 18 to 24, 35.6% from 25 to 44, 18.9% from 45 to 64, and 15.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 73.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 77.2 males.
